THE 2013 WNAA SUMMER EXHIBITION

Once again the splendid St Nicholas Chapel was the setting for the 2013 summer exhibition and overall feedback suggests that it was the best one yet in terms of diversity and quality of work. I think we can all feel proud of ourselves, especially the tireless committee and willing hands who set the show up....and took it all down again. The selectors never have an easy job but this years 'colour themed' hanging criteria won much praise all round.
Special mention must go to 'SMITHS REMOVAL'S' and the two lads that generously gave us their time and muscle to position the very many heavy display boards, sparing us arty OAP's several days backache.

This year preview night was moved to a Friday which we thought would accommodate a better turnout. As with tradition the exhibition was opened by the mayor and the usual wine and nibbles were enjoyed but this year we saw the inclusion of some fabulous live music from the 'COOL JAZZ' trio....they were seriously good.

Talking of art...what about the re-furbished west doors of the Chapel. A truly fantastic job by the restorer and just a part of the huge project at St Nicholas which will see much enhanced exhibition space from around 2015...which we're all looking forward to.

I must say that thanks to a heatwave it was the 'hottest' I have ever known the Chapel to be.

And now...the bit you really want to see...a run down of the artists and their works and this year I have also included 'most' of the works attributed by the members, however due to the very difficult lighting/reflections and other problems in a building of this size and type, not everything photographed successfully so apologies to any 'missing' pieces and of course there were members who were either absent/late or camera shy who aren't in the frame so to speak.

I think you'll agree, a really good show from the West Norfolk Artists Association 2013 summer exhibition.

 

Next year the exhibition will probably not be at the same venue due to the volume of refurbishment set to take place, but there will be a show and we'll try to make it better yet. Hopefully we shall be returning to the wonderful St Nicholas Chapel in 2015 amid its splendid new exhibition space.
